Establishing Design Principles for Sustainable Design Collaborations

Level: Introductory
Format: Multimedia
CE Info: 0.50 HSW LU
Contact Info: Customer Service (customerservice@ncarb.org)

Description:

In this course, participants learn how to use holistic design principles to achieve a successful, sustainable design collaboration or charrette. One of the biggest failure points of any collaboration, especially within the context of a sustainable design project, is the lack of shared principles, goals, metrics, targets, and agreed-upon strategies. If we want to cocreate with a diverse set of stakeholders who lack design expertise and think in diverse ways, it is essential to develop, communicate, and reinforce a clear roadmap toward a successful project. By using a set of holistic guiding principles, design goals, and clear targets, any stakeholder can help to identify appropriate sustainability strategies and tactics necessary to create a high-performing sustainable design project. This course covers the frameworks and components needed to establish the conditions for a successful collaboration. Each course of this five-part series may be taken individually.
