Description:
Because the built environment is a major contributor to climate change—creating 40% of the world’s CO2 emissions—it is the responsibility of architects, engineers, and owners to target net-zero energy and net-zero carbon building designs. This course, part of a seven-part series, will examine both operational and embodied carbon emissions generated throughout a building's life cycle. The course also includes an outline of design approaches that can reduce building-based carbon emissions and a case study of a low embodied carbon building. Each section of this series may be taken as an individual course.
This course supports zero net carbon design (ZNCD) and may meet the ZNCD requirements of the California Architects Board.
