Description:

Mass timber (MT) framing has emerged as an increasingly popular option for construction projects across the United States. Initially, MT was a specialized product used in niche projects, but it is now regularly considered for a wide range of construction projects alongside more traditional building systems. This course provides an introduction to MT products and construction, as well as important considerations such as fire safety, acoustics, moisture control, building codes, and structural design. The course concludes with a case study of The Soto, an MT hybrid office building located in San Antonio, Texas.
