Description:

Because the built environment is a major contributor to climate change—creating 40% of the world’s CO2 emissions—it is the responsibility of architects, engineers, and owners to target net-zero energy and net-zero carbon building designs. This course, part of a seven-part series, provides an overview of the terms energy and carbon and demonstrates how to measure them in the context of building design. It also emphasizes the impacts of net-zero design on individual projects, overall costs, and society at large. Through the course, you will understand how energy use and carbon emissions are related and be able to list the relevant codes, standards, and certifications you may need to employ when designing for net-zero energy and net-zero carbon. Each section of this series may be taken as an individual course.
